The demand
The Guadeloupean photographer Cédrick-Isham and the Martinican author Kelly Pujar contacted us with an interesting project: they wanted to tell the little-known story of Ultramarines who migrate to France. They had in mind an original way of telling the story: starting with a simple photo session with each protagonist to arrive at an intimate and free conversation.
Zebra’s response
We accompanied Cedrick and Kelly in the construction of their project, then during the filming and editing. They created a choral narrative, in which people from Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, and the Reunion Island tell their stories of their journey in French society. The personal stories intertwine and allow for the questioning of the concept of identity.
